Arches 2008

Wow! Wow! Wow! We couldn't stop saying that on our recent weekend adventure to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks here in Utah. We did some pretty adventurous hiking and were surprised, amazed and impressed at every turn. If you haven't seen this amazing piece of creation, we have to take you there!

A visit with Aunt Sara

We were really missing Auntie Sara!! Luckily a 4 day weekend and some frequent flyer tickets came along just in time to make a Seattle adventure come true! Sara recently purchased a vacation home and we were so excited to check out her new digs and spend a few days hanging out together. The adventure began with a ferry ride from Seattle to Indianola, the site of Sara's fabulous home away from home. Claire had never ridden the ferry and Lauren was a baby the last time we did, so it was a super fun trip for us all! Lauren stood at the front of the boat and felt the wind in her face and absolutely LOVED it! Claire was nervous about how the whole thing was going to go down, but was so excited once we drove Auntie's car aboard and seemed to nearly have the ferry to ourselves. Zach spotted several fish and did a few hot laps around the deck. We had a great weekend exploring the beach, the extra long dock, the cute little town and the whole island. Zach surprised us all by catching a crab with... turkey jerky!?! Todd was the ultimate brother in law and did a bunch of handyman projects for Sara. The girls even got to help Auntie paint her bedroom. A super fun weekend that really makes us wish we lived closer to my sis.

First Day of School 2008

The first day of school arrived on August 18 for the Little family. With Zachary starting middle school, Claire starting all day kindergarten and Lauren moving into the ranks of 4th grade, I'm feeling a real transition in our lives. My babies are really growing into amazing people! I marvel at the intelligence, confidence and love that shines from each of our kids. Then I realize that who they are is because of the amazing friends, family and faith that surrounds them. God has truly blessed us.

Momentous Day

We have just 5 days until school starts so we're making the most of every day! Today the kids and I went to Cottonwood Heights, a local recreation center for some swimming fun. We'd heard from friends about the amazing Olympic size diving platforms at this pool and we were feeling a little Olympic swimming fever having watched the amazing Michael Phelps so we decided to check it out. It was a bit intimidating when we pulled into the parking lot and saw the ambulance on standby in case of emergency, no kidding! It took all the courage mom had just to watch, but all 3 kids braved the high dives! Even Zach admitted it was a little intimidating, Lauren turned back once, and Claire hesitated up there for an exaggerated pause, but they all conquered their fear and had a blast! Wow, to be a kid- brave and invincible.

Montana Summer

We had a stupendous July. Fun and adventures too numerous to mention them all,but here are a few favorites we wanted to share. We travelled to Helena for our annual month in Montana on June 25th. From there we spent time in both Glacier and Yellowstone National parks, and Zachary jetted off with Grandma Dawn and Old Mike for the trip of his life to Costa Rica. The whole Little clan, "party of 20" joined us for a Glacier Park adventure and we were so thrilled to get to share "our Montana" with them. Throughout the month of July, we hiked, biked, swam, learned to sew with Great Grandma, took tennis lessons and spent lots of time with our family. Grandpa Steve treated us to fun days at the ranch,a trip to the Missouri river, and driving lessons for Lauren and Zachary. With warm days, cool nights and so many good friends and fabulous family members, Montana truly is our favorite place in the world.

Texas Vacation 2008

School let out at 11am on May 23rd and the Littles caught a plane at 1pm for a fabulous fun filled Texas vacation. After a LONG and SNOWY Utah winter, we were ready for some sun. We smothered ourselves in SPF 50 and spent 9 days soaking up the sun. It was sooo nice! We spent 3 days in Rockport bay with the ever gracious Buckle family. We swam, went crabbing and fishing, boating and swimming. Zachary would have liked to have fished 24 hours a day, but enjoyed the time he had. We took a little drive up the coast to Corpus Christi where we saw the USS Lexington, and then spent the next week playing in Houston. It was great to see all of our friends in Sugarland. The best part of all was having time to just play and be together.
